The sun was breaking the day with a brightness that was clear and crisp. Andrew rose with a shout of joy and hope for a beautiful day. He began his day as usual and everyone was going about their daily chores and enjoying the new day. Andrew spoke to his family and friends and said “ let us eat, drink, and be merry today for the Lord delays His coming. Everything is going well with us and we will celebrate. We will live and enjoy what we have. There are no signs that our time will be over soon; things are as they have always been.
There were signs all around Andrew but he did not see them because his only concerns were to eat, drink, and be merry. He took no thought for the things that were happening around him, he was just concerned with him self. He said “times are as they have always been”. Children were being born, people were dying, the poor were still hungry and the earth was shaking from time to time. He saw no real proof that the Lord was coming back soon.
It is no different in these times that we live in. I have heard many people say that the Lord was not coming back any time soon. After all some prophet some where had prophesied some things that would most definitely take many years to come to pass so they might as well eat, drink, and be merry. What dangerous grounds to be walking on.
Matthew 24:37-51 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
It would wise to look for the coming of the Lord at any time because we do not know when we will leave this earth. Look up, for your redemption draweth nigh.
Eat, drink, and be merry
Let us eat, drink, be merry, and have fun today,
There are no signs that good times will go away.
Let us eat, drink, be merry, and have fun tonight,
The coming of our Lord is no where in sight.
Let us eat, drink, be merry, and have fun,
God has given us everything good under the sun.
No Lord, no Lord, we are not prepared to go with you,
We were eating, drinking and being merry too.

If the lord doesn't show up in your lifetime, haven't you been lied to? This delay/postponement you speak of has happened to every generation since the 1st century. Yet you sing the same old song--as if this generation must REALLY be the last since we know it's uh...."this generation" "even at the doors" and "soon." Nobody's still buying that argument as a basis for morality, I hope.Perhaps a different paradigm like "quality of life" might convince more readers to adopt your value system other than "the sky is about to fall." What is your value system other than, "the sky is falling?"
To anonymous...actually this is not really an "end time" message but one that I hope would make people aware that indeed today could be their last on earth.......if people are living for the Lord their quality of life should be wonderful.
