Set Free

Mark 5:2-15, And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him ou

t of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, And cried with a loud voice, and said, what have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. And he asked him, what is thy name? And he answered, saying, my name is Legion: for we are many. And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea. And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done. And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

Can you even imagine how this man was tormented having so many demons inside of him for so long? It must have literally been hell on earth for him.

He was not only bound up because he had to live in a tomb as though he was already dead, but his soul was bound up with those demons and they would have carried him right into the gates of Hell. He had no hope, no way out of his situation but then Jesus showed up and set him free.

There are many people who are bound up with demons and they do not even realize what is going on. If you would like to talk to some of these people just get on the internet; they are everywhere on there. They say the same thing that the man who lived in the tomb said, “what have I to do with you Jesus, thou Son of the most high God?” These people don’t want anything to do with Jesus, they think that they are okay but in reality they are living in a tomb without God, without any help and without the Savior and like that man they will end up carried straight to Hell by their demons. How do we help them?

Good question! The only way that we can help them is if we are walking like Jesus walked and talking like Jesus talked. When we get to that place we will see people getting set free from their demons; from their hell on earth. When we walk by them they will cry out and that will be the opportunity that we need to help them be set free. We really can’t do much if people are not willing to receive what they need. They are looking for help, they are just looking in the wrong place; they are looking to Doctors and medication to relieve their torment but it only prolongs their suffering. They get some relief but if they would turn to Jesus they would be completely set free now and for eternity. It is up to God’s ministers to see to it that these people have the deliverance that they desperately need. Jesus said that we would do greater things than He did. I know that is hard to believe but I believe it because Jesus said it! The time is now, the need is great, and people are suffering. These only come out through fasting and prayer. Are you willing to give all of your self so that others can live and live a life that is filled with God and live for eternity with God?

Not only people who are demon possessed need help. I talk to people often who are having problems in their families. Their children are running wild. Their husband’s and wives are running wild. They have every problem in the book yet they won’t turn to God, the only one who can and will help them. The Church, God’s ministers, must take up the slack. Time seems to be running out; at least for some it is and they will be lost forever. We have to get serious about what God has called us to do. I am sure that if we were in that situation we would want those who could help to have enough compassion in them to help. Will you make the sacrifice for others? Jesus did.

[And they went out to see what it was that was done. And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.] That is what we need to see; people clothed and in their right minds, set free! AMEN!
