Have there been times in your life, in your walk with the Lord, when you have lost your joy? I can honestly say that I have been there, and done that. I am sure that many of you have also. We all have those times in our lives no matter how hard we try to keep our joy. People and situations always show up to steal our joy.

The important thing to remember is that the joy of the Lord is our strength so naturally when our joy is gone then our strength will be gone also. It is hard to make it through trying times without strength, in fact, it is virtually impossible.

As Christians we suffer persecution, tribulation, and many times we all feel that we can’t go on but if we truly trust in the Lord these times will not last and if we cry out to God He is always faithful to answer and deliver us.

One question that might come to mind is, “do these times when our joy seems to be lacking always come, even if we are mature Christians"? Well I can only speak for myself but I have realized that they still come often but the time that it takes me to come out of it over the years have gotten shorter. I think that is where being an “over comer" comes into play.

As Christians we should always walk in joy no matter what comes. I am not saying that we pretend that everything is all right, when it isn’t, but that we walk in confidence so that we know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that everything IS all right.

We face things every day that tend to steal our joy. We have concerns in our families for their salvation and for their needs to be met. We are concerned for our children and grand children too. At those times I find Gods’ word to be very comforting, especially about my children. I know that because I serve God that it is promised to me that my children and their children will serve God also. Sometimes it doesn’t look much like that but I don’t look at circumstances, I look at my God, and He is a God that keeps His word. He is faithful!

1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

Things happen so that our faith can grow strong. How can our faith grow if we never have to put our faith to work? We must exercise it daily and believe me there will always be something show up to keep us on our toes. Sometimes we will feel physically exhausted because of all of the exercise we are doing to keep our faith strong. When those times come we need to pray and ask God to….

Psalms 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

God is a God of restoration and He will restore our joy and He will hold us up. So when you find your self down and out, fighting with everything that is in you to hold on to your joy, your strength, remember that God is always there and He will never leave you or forsake you. He will be faithful to the end. His word is true and pure and it does accomplish what He sent it to do. So rejoice!
